It's good to be the king

When Jacques Chirac wants to sleep, he is going to sleep.

Chirac apparently ordered his jet to take the 'scenic route' so he could catch up on some needed sleep.


"Investigative newspaper Le Canard Enchaine said Chirac took off shortly before midnight from Paris but did not want to turn up in Russia three-and-a-half hours later, as would have happened had the plane flown directly to its destination.

Instead of going east, Chirac got the pilot to fly north to the British island of Jersey, then south along France's Atlantic coast, then over the Pyrenees mountains and back up to his departure point in Paris, before heading eastwards to Russia..."
